i miss jakarta

well, everytime i just got back from jakarta, i always feel homesick. it's weird, though.. because i've been here in sydney for almost a year, and sometimes i feel the same difficulty to adapt like i did at the first time. yesss..too much precious memories in jakarta that i could remember.. the places, people, environment, etc. but, what i miss the most about jakarta is indonesian fooooooddddsss!!!!! yummyyyyy!!!!! i still remember how it tasted like..especially martabak manis, my favourite snack. it is a sweet thick pancakes or crepe in indonesia; very popular; and usually filled with cheese, chocolate or peanuts. my favourite is the one filled with cheese, because it is covered with condensed milk. it tastes soooo great.. and i can taste its crispiness from the first bite.

martabak manis filled with cheese and chocolate - my favourite!

if you would like to taste how delicious indonesian foods are, i recommend you to try sate kambing (lamb satay). i'll never ever everrrr get bored with this food. i always eat this food whenever i go back to jakarta. it's just sooo tasty, crispy, tender and just too fine! it's very popular in indonesia. it is made from lamb. this food is made by roasting lamb that has been mixed with seasoning. a set of sate kambing usually consists of the satay itself, complemented by a sauce made of soya sauce or peanut sauce. some people eat it with rice while others prefer to eat it with traditional rice cake named lontong or ketupat. for this food, i'd like to give a rating 5 out of 5 stars! hahahaha...

sate kambing - 5 out of 5 stars rating!

then usually for the dessert, i would like to have rujak or es cendol. rujak consists of assorted tropical fruit, such as pineapple, raw mangoes, cucumber, sweet potato, star fruit and green apple. the sweet and spicy-hot peanut sauce made from water, coconut sugar, tamarind, shrimp paste, salt and red chilli is provided as its dressing. all of the fruits are sliced to bite-size, and put in the dish. since i like fruit so much and always consume it every day, i'd like to have rujak for my dessert. it's sweet, juicy and a little bit hot. and for the other one, es cendol, it's also my favourite. it is an indonesian drink made from rice flour served with coconut milk, sugar palm and ice cubes. drink this when summer comes, and it's just beautiful... sooo breezy.. geez, the more i talk about these foods, the more i torture myself alive hahahaha... feel so starving right now :(
